Albatroz Engineering is specialized in overhead Power Lines Innovative software development supported on the integration of standard hardware and years of know-how on power line analysis delivers very profitable solutions for maintenance of power lines, from rural distribution to nationwide transmission grids.

“The MTi-G-700 sensor offers excellent attitude and orientation accuracy, moreover it is easy to write software for. The small size provides a low consumption and facilitates integration since it allows us to install it inside our systems without taking up too much valuable space. These characteristics are essential for our aeronautical applications. All these attributes makes the Xsens MTi-G-700 sensor a highly cost-effective solution." - João Gomes Mota, Electrical Engineer and Manager at Albatroz Engineering

The Power Line Maintenance Inspection (PLMI) is the company’s flagship solution. It is used for overhead line inspection from manned helicopters. The Airborne Digital Recording System (ADRS) and the Airborne Sweeping Laser Measurement System (ASLMS) are components of the Power Line Maintenance Inspection system.

ADRS
The ADRS acquires and performs a digital, synchronized recording of inspection data from multiple sensors. Simultaneously, it provides multiple data streams, both from live and recorded data. By creating digital recordings referenced by time and geography, the system improves the availability of inspection data for life-cycle management.

ASLMS
The ASLMS is a LiDAR device (LiDAR stands for Light Detection And Ranging) for detection and ranging of obstacles coupled to a rotating device that makes the laser sweep an angular section around it.

Both systems are complemented with a GPS sensors, to localise every range sample (LiDAR data) into world coordinates and optionally, a sensor to measure attitude angles and accelerations that, depending on the technology used and features, may be termed, Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), inertial navigation system (INS), Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) or gyroscope.

Currently, all Albatroz Engineering systems use the Xsens MTi-G-700 sensor to fulfil this functionality.
