Xsens research awarded during ICUWB

Xsens research awarded during ICUWB

At the International Conference of Ultra Wideband (http://www.icuwb2009.org) the research of Jeroen Hol, a PhD researcher at Xsens was awarded the “Best Student Paper” award.

Jeroen Hol submitted his research on “Tightly Coupled UWB/IMU Pose Estimation”. In his paper a 6DOF tracking system was presented combining Ultra-Wideband (UWB) measurements with inertial measurements from Xsens’ low-cost motion tracker sensors (see MTi). A tightly coupled system was developed that estimates position as well as orientation of the sensor unit while being reliable in case of multipath effects and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions. The experimental results show robust and continuous tracking in a realistic indoor positioning scenario.

The work was awarded by the committee and appraised as being of a very high quality and an excellent example of both highly innovative and practical applicable research.
