Answer
After updating my Xbus Kit / Moven System with latest firmware, I noticed that the batteries tend to drain very quickly.
The motion trackers do indeed draw a higer current after the firmware update; this is related to increased processing demands. The effect should not exceed 20% reduction in battery life. However, depending on the battery technology, this might have a stronger effect on endurance. Tests have shown that alkaline batteries in particular perform far worse at high currents than recharchable batteries. In particular, the voltage drops faster than with NiMH type batteries. Together with the higher drain, this can explain the drastic decay in endurance with alkaline batteries. The effect should remain within acceptable limits with the NiMH batteries that Xsens provides.
