Answer

Instead of the parameters 'Filter Gain' and 'Magnetometer Weighting', a number of predefined filter settings are available, optimizing Xsens' filter algorithm (XKF) for different applications. These pre-defined user scenarios replace the manual filter settings used in previous versions of the Xsens sensor fusion algorithm (formerly 'XIMU').

The predefined filter settings include, amongst others, automotive, aerospace (MTi-G), marine and human motion (MTi and MTx) scenario's. As an example, the automotive scenario is utilizing, the constraint that no sideward movement occurs during driving (non-holonomic constraint) to stabilise heading output. The user-scenarios implemented in the XKF algorithm provide a more accurate and robust orientation output than using the manual settings of the XIMU algorthm. If you have questions about the transition from MT SDK 2.x and firmware 1.x to current MT SDK 3.x and Firmware 2.x, implementing the new XKF and user-scenario's, contact support.
