Answer

The status flag as output by the motion tracker does not seem to be correct.
The status byte may show unexpected values especially when reading data from a file that was recorded with the Raw Data output active. In recordings where Orientation Data and the Status data output was enabled, the Status byte will performas described in the USer Manual.

All motion trackers: The XKF flag is high although the self test flag remains low.
Explanation: The self test is carried out by the sensor, this is only available when the data is read directly from the sensor, not in recordings of Raw Data.

MTi-G: The XKF flag is high although the GPS glag remains low. The GPS Status window in the MT Manager is indicating a valid fix.
Explanation: The XKF flag is derived from a direct hardware link to the GPS receiver. This information is not available in recorded files of Raw Data.
